Booking Takeovers
Already booked? You’re not on your own.
Sometimes you book a trip yourself and then realize you’d love a little backup. That’s where a booking takeover comes in.
A booking takeover means you’ve already booked your hotel, cruise, or vacation directly with the supplier, and I step in as your travel advocate from that point forward. You keep your original reservation and pricing, but gain professional support, oversight, and in many cases, added perks.
Once your booking is transferred to me, I can:
Monitor for price drops or better rates
Assist with upgrades when available
Help manage payments and deadlines
Coordinate arrival details and reconfirmations
Be your point of contact if anything changes
Depending on the booking, you may also be eligible for added benefits such as onboard credit or a gift card. The exact value varies based on your trip, and I’ll always let you know what applies.
Most importantly, you get peace of mind knowing someone experienced is watching the details for you.
A Note on Ethics
I will never take over a booking made by another travel advisor. Another agent has already invested time, expertise, and care into that reservation, and taking it over would be unethical. That’s simply not how I work.
Takeovers are available only for bookings you made independently, such as booking directly with a hotel, cruise line, or travel supplier.
FAQ: Booking Takeovers
What exactly is a booking takeover?
A booking takeover is when I attach myself as your travel advisor to a reservation you already made directly with a supplier. With your permission and booking confirmation, I contact the hotel, cruise line, or provider and take over support for that reservation.
Why would I want to do this?
Because you get the best of both worlds. You keep the booking you already made, and gain:
A personal travel advocate
Professional oversight and support
Help if something goes wrong
Potential perks or credits where eligible
No long hold times. No navigating policies alone. I handle it.
Does a takeover cost anything?
No. There is no fee to transfer your booking to me.
Your pricing, promotions, and reservation details stay exactly the same.
What kinds of perks might I receive?
When applicable, takeovers may include benefits like:
Complimentary breakfast for two
Resort or shipboard credits
Room upgrades, subject to availability
Early check-in or late check-out
Perks depend on the property, supplier, and booking type, and are always subject to availability.
When can a takeover usually be applied?
Takeovers typically work best for:
Direct bookings made with the hotel or supplier
Best Available Rate or flexible cancellation rates
Certain promotional or preferred partner rates
Some cruises and tours also allow takeovers within specific time frames.
When can a takeover NOT be applied?
Takeovers generally cannot be applied to:
Bookings made using points or miles
Reservations booked through third-party sites like Expedia, Priceline, or Orbitz
Bookings originally made by another travel agent
All takeovers are ultimately subject to supplier approval, though denials are rare.
I booked with another travel agent. Can you take it over?
No. I don’t take over bookings handled by other advisors. I respect the work and integrity of fellow travel professionals.
How much onboard credit or gift card value will I receive?
If your booking qualifies, the value is based on the total cost of your trip. Once I review your reservation, I’ll confirm exactly what applies. Higher-value bookings often unlock higher bonuses.
When should I contact you about a takeover?
As soon as possible. The earlier you reach out after booking, the better the chances of attaching perks and support before supplier deadlines kick in.
Bottom line
You keep your booking.
You gain an advocate.
You gain perks.
And you don’t pay extra for it.
